Boys Basketball Tryouts

Boys Basketball tryouts will begin Monday, November 7th.  There will be an informational meeting if there are any other questions about tryouts that are not answered below.  The meeting will be held in room 220 after school on Thursday, 11/3.

Varsity tryouts:
Monday: 3:20 (Gym 1)

Sophomore tryouts:
Monday: 3:20 (Gym 1 and 2)

Freshmen tryouts:
Monday: 6:00 am (meet in the lunchroom)
Tuesday: 6:00 am (meet in the lunchroom)

NOTE: if you do not have an IHSA physical on file by the start of tryouts you will not be able to participate.


Anyone interested in trying out must have their IHSA physical and all electronic forms in compliance (found on our website at lanetech.org/athletics)

Big weekend for Lane Tech Athletics

10/20/16-10/21/16: 
Girls Tennis competes in the IHSA State Finals as junior Hallie Leblebijian qualified to represent Lane Tech downstate.

10/21/16:
Football plays in the first round of the city football playoffs against Solorio HS. The game is at 7:15 pm at Solorio (5400 S. St. Louis St. Chicago, IL 60652).

Boys' Soccer plays in the IHSA Regional Finals vs Leyden HS at 5 pm. The game is at Leyden HS (1000 Wolf Rd. Northlake, IL 60164).

10/22/16:

Boys and Girls Cross Country is at the IHSA Regionals at Washington Park at 2:30 pm and 3 pm. Washington Park is located at 5531 S King Dr, Chicago, IL 60637. 

10/23/16:
Girls Swimming competes in the City Relays at Whitney Young (211 S. Laflin St., Chicago IL 60607).

Hallie Leblebijian finishes third in Sectionals; moving on to IHSA State Finals

Congratulations to Hallie Leblebijian of the girls' tennis team.  Leblebijian finished third at the IHSA state sectional match and is will be competing down state at the IHSA finals.

Winter Sports Registration

All student athletes planning on trying out for a winter sport need to attend the winter sports registration on Tuesday, October 25 in Gym 2 from 3:30 pm to 4:30 pm. Please bring a current copy of your IHSA sports physical and all of the required online forms. (Please do not bring in the original IHSA sports physical). If you have already attended the fall sports registration or participated in a fall sport you do not have to attend.

Cross Country City Finals

Congratulations to Sr. Maggie Scholle for winning her 3rd consecutive Cross Country City Championship at Washington Park on Saturday with a time of18:00. The All-State runner will now lead her team in the state series beginning this Saturday at 2:30pm again at Washington Pk (55th & Russell Drive). Sr. Jason Rivera and So. Julian Higueros paced the varsity boys to a 3rd place team finish covering the 3 mile course in 15:53 and 15:55 respectively. 


The Frosh/Soph boys finished a close 2nd place to Jones 33pts to 42pts. The pack of So. Joe Powers, So. Tommy Scholle, So. Killian Zindel and Fr. Jack Burns led the group and represent the bright future of LTXC! The F/S girls finished 3rd place with their own tightly packed group of Isabella Traven, Abigail Arroyo, Katelyn Beaudet and Fr. Avery Moss.

Cross Country City Championship

The Cross Country city championship is tomorrow 10/15/16 at Washington Park. The lower level race is a 9 am and the varsity races are at 1 am and 11:30 am. Come out and support the boys and girls as they try to capture the city title.

Football Senior Night set for October 14th

There is a home football game tonight in the stadium vs North Lawndale HS at 7:15 pm. The game is our last home game and it is also senior night. Please come out and support the team.

Lane Tech boys soccer wins city championship


Lane Tech boys soccer beat Taft  by a score of 3 to 2 to win the city championship. Goals by Junior Brandon Rivera (unassisted), goal by senior Seth Hultgren (assisted by senior Kamil Piotrowski.  The Goalie in Penalties was junior Fabian Venegas who saved one.  Penalties made by senior Charlie Bauer, junior Marcin Kieta, junior Brandon Rivera, and the game winner by senior José "JT" Terrazas.

Homecoming Announcement

Message from our Athletic Director, Brian Hofman:

Spectators for the homecoming football game vs. Curie on Friday, September 23rd are reminded NOT to bring any back packs, purses or bags into the game. Every spectator will be scanned for any metal objects and all bags will be searched. You will also not be allowed to bring in any outside food or drink. The elimination of bags will speed up the admittance process.

Fall Sports Registration


Fall sports registration will be on Tuesday August 9th from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm in the Driver's Education building. Any athlete (fall, winter or spring season) can attend this registration but all fall-sport athletes are required to attend. Please bring an up-to-date copy of your IHSA physical and a copy of all required online forms. Also, make several copies of your IHSA physical and make sure to keep the original on file for safe keeping.

Spring Sports Athlete/Parent Meeting set for 3/10


The Athletic Department will have the spring sports athlete and parent meeting on Thursday March 10th at 7 pm in the auditorium. The agenda of the meeting will be to review the mandatory IHSA concussion video along with the code of conduct policy. The meeting will be no longer than one hour. Everyone in a spring sport needs to attend.

ATHLETIC FEE


The student athletes will have one week after tryouts, if the make the team, to pay their athletic fee. The fee this year is $125.00 per sport. The fee can be paid in the budget office by money order or cash only. The times it can be paid are Monday through Thursday before school, during lunch periods and after school. It can also be paid on Fridays before school and during lunch periods only.

Congrats to Daniel Puczko ('18) on qualifying for state with a time of 4:45:80 in the 500 yard free!

The following students broke school records:
-Ben Huynh ('19) broke the school record in the 100 backstroke
-Mark Gullickson ('16) broke the school record for the 200 free
-Ben Martinez ('16) broke the school record for the 200 individual medley
-Ben Huynh ('19), Ben Martinez ('16), Maxwell Boettcher ('16), and Justin Trieu ('16) broke the school record in the 200 medley relay
