Madhouse on Addison - Lane Tech Hockey Day

Lane's Hockey Program is hosting their first weekend event at Mcfetridge Sports Center (3843 N California Ave, Chicago, IL 60618) on Sunday, October 25.  Congressmen Quigley is confirmed to drop the puck.

The hockey program serves students from Lane, DePaul College Prep, Lincoln Park, Northside, and Taft.

Jim Cornelison from the Chicago Blackhawks will sing the National Anthem and Tommy Hawk will make an appearance.

-Food will be provided by Big Hatt Gourmet beginning at 10am
-JV opens up the action against the Libertyville Icecats at 10:45am
-Varsity directly follows at 12:30pm against the Niles Nighthawks
-The Lane Tech Varsity Band will perform

Join in on the fun at the Madhouse on Addison!

Mandatory meeting for ALL athletes set for Monday, October 19th

ALL Lane Tech student athletes are expected to attend a mandatory meeting this upcoming Monday, October 19th after school in Gym 1 (Room 208).  All coaches will be emailed the logistics and are expected to attend as well.

Lane Tech Alum qualifies for Olympic Trials!

Congratulations to Meghan Lavelle ('14) who qualified for the Olympic Trials 100 Meter Backstroke at the Illinois Senior Champs Long Course 2015!  The qualifying time was 1:03:39 and Meghan swam it in 1:03:16.  Lavelle placed first in the meet and was awarded "Outstanding Female Performance of the Meet Award."  She will be representing the University of Iowa at the Olympic Trials in Omaha, Nebraska in June 2016.  Meghan is 1 of the 139 swimmers in the nation who qualified for this event.

We’re putting High School Lites in the hands of prep football fans every week this season. Fans will get the chance to pick one game that the @CSNPreps crew will cover on Friday night. We will send our cameras to the game that gets the most votes; highlights will appear on that night’s broadcast (11:00pm). High School Lites replays at 7:30am and 8:30am the following Saturday. Here are the game choices for week two:

Sports Registration Day (Updated)

For all HS (non-LTAC) athletes:
Sport registration days will be held on Tuesday, August 11 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. in the Driver’s Education building.  All athletes trying out for a fall sport must attend the Fall Sport Registration day. Students must bring a completed IHSA Physical and must complete the online participation forms, including Code of Conduct, Transportation, and Concussion forms prior to attending the registration day. Forms can be found at http://www.lanetech.org/athletics. Upon completion of registration, athletes will receive a Players Card which they will present to their coach on the first day of tryouts. Coaches may require other information before tryouts. Athletes who plan to try out for a Winter or Spring sport can also attend this Registration.

Lane Tech senior Pavlo Hutsalyuk wins state

Senior Pavlo Hutsalyuk won the STATE CHAMPIONSHIP in the mile run Saturday at Eastern IL University. His time of 4:08.19 is the fastest ever by a CPS runner, was only 2 seconds off of the state meet record and is currently the 9th fastest high school time in the country . He is in the white jersey with green shorts. A special shout out to our Asst. Head Coach Tony Jones (20 years coaching at Lane) and his efforts with Pavlo over the last several years!

The 4x200 and 4x400 relay teams of Arturo Cardiel, Chris Gibson, Kyle Williams, Malik Hamilton, and Michael Hardman also finished the season with personal best times. Thank you to everyone who supported the Boys Track & Field student athletes this season!

Career in Sports Seminar (updated)

Lane Tech Athletics is hosting a Careers In Sports Seminar May 28th from 8am-12:00pm.  Guests include people who work  for the Chicago Fire, Chicago White Sox, the NCAA, college coaches and athletic directors, professional trainers, fitness professionals, sports cameramen, and race organizers.  If you are a student in 9-12 grade interested in attending this seminar to gain insight about a possible career in sports, please apply! Cost is $7.  Deadline for applications has been extended to Friday May 22nd.   

In addition, we want to make it known that we are creating a class called Careers in Sports that Mr. LoGalbo will teach beginning in 2016-2017 that will cover four of these careers and will, in turn, promote Lane Tech athletics.  We will have more information about the class at the seminar so we encourage freshmen and sophomores to apply.  This is not just for juniors and seniors!

Lane Tech offering athletic physicals for 2015-2016 season

Lane Tech Pre-Participation Physicals will be held on June 2nd at 4pm.
Location will be GYM 1 or in the stadium 
The cost is $25 per athlete.
Please come on time with the first page filled out and signed by your parents.
In addition if you wear corrective lenses (glasses or contacts) bring them with as there will be an eye exam.

Christian Badillo named to the IHSA all-state academic team

Christian Badillo (track/cross country) has been named to the IHSA all-state academic team.  Badillo, only one of 26 student athletes named to the all-state academic team from the entire state, represented Lane Tech well Monday evening (April 20th).  We are all extremely proud of you!  To add to his accomplishments, Christian has been admitted and will be attending Stanford University next fall.  Congratulations to Christian!

This is the second consecutive year that Lane Tech has had an athlete named to the all-state academic team after Hailey Pieruccini was named to the team last year.

Lane Tech Lettermen Club sponsoring St. Baldrick's Event

The Lane Tech Lettermen Club will be hosting a St. Baldrick's head shaving event to raise awareness and funds for children's cancer research.  You can visit our webpage to make a donation or sign up to become a shavee!  The event will be held at Lane in the auditorium on Wednesday, April 1st.  The doors will open at 2:30 with the shaving beginning around 3:15.  Please consider making a donation, sharing this link on your social media, and/or volunteering to get your head shaved in order to raise funds to help our cause.

Lane Tech Swimming breaks FIVE school records!

The Lane Tech boys’ swim team broke FIVE school records during sectionals hosted at Glenbrook South High School.

Ben Martinez set a new school record for the 200 meter individual medley, breaking a two-year old record

Mark Gullickson set a new record for the 200 meter freestyle. Mark, interestingly, broke his older brother’s record from two years ago. Matt Gullickson was a Lane student and now attends DePauw University.

Max Boettcher set two records – one for the 50 meter freestyle and for the 100 meter backstroke. Both records were from the l970s!

The relay team of Mark Gullickson, Max Boettcher, Ben Martinez and Justin Trieu set a new school record for the 400 meter freestyle relay

Seniors Arpad Neale and Freddie Weichmann had lifetime best times at the meet as well.

Lane Tech boys basketball defeats Harlan; advances to Sweet 16 for third straight season

The Lane Tech boys basketball program earned home game as a higher seed in the first round of the Chicago Public League playoffs this past Thursday and defeated Harlan High School (Red-South division) by a score of 52-47.  The Indians were led by senior Noah Khan's 20 points.

The Indians will be playing Kenwood (Red-Central champs) on Sunday at Corliss High School.  Time TBD.  Come out and support your Sweet Sixteen bound Lane Tech Indians!


Anthony Faltin named head football coach

Lane Tech High School is proud to announce the hiring of Anthony Faltin as the new head football coach. He brings a strong work ethic, passion and excitement to Lane. He has a high level of knowledge and pure love of the game along with an understanding and pride in the tradition of Lane Tech.  

His previous accomplishments as a head coach speak volumes as he led Walter Payton to FOUR consecutive state playoff appearances. Payton won consecutive conference championships in 2013 and 2014. Walter Payton achieved a 23-3 conference record over the last four years.

Athletic Announcements (Week of 2/2/15)


Congratulations to wrestlers Kaiden Friedreich (two-time city champ) and Jake Davis (three-time city champ).

Congratulations to the boys basketball team on their senior night win over Luther North 62-49. Coach LoGalbo would like to thank all of the seniors for their commitment and sacrifice to the program. Coach LoGalbo would also like to thank all of the cheerleaders, dance team members, majorettes, and the Lane Tech Marching Warriors for their commitment to giving our team a true home court advantage this season.  The Indians begin city playoffs this Thursday vs. Harlan at home.  This will be the Indians last home game of the season.  Please come out and show your support!

Girls Basketball will be having their senior night this week vs. Uplift.  The game was originally scheduled for 2/2 but due to school closing the game is being rescheduled.  Please check back for updates!

Boys Lacrosse is having a Player/Parent meeting on Thursday Feb. 5th at 6pm in the cafeteria. If you are interested in playing boys lacrosse you should plan on attending this meeting.

Lane Tech Hockey defeats Nazareth Academy, 6-4

Lead by Coach Marzec, Lane Tech Hockey scored three unanswered goals in the third period to come back and defeat Nazareth Academy.  It was only fitting that all goals were scored by seniors on senior night (Zach Pierucci, Rich Rydzinski, Joey Hebert (2) and Erik Lundgren (2)).
